Anne Platner, 99, of Bartlesville, will turn 100 on Friday, Dec. 18th.

Platner's son, Gary Platner, says his mother has lived so long because she is most likely the happiest person you'll ever meet. He said nothing gets his mom down. Platner is always laughing, talking, and living with purpose, even through a pandemic.

Before the coronavirus pandemic swept across the nation and Oklahoma, Platner would drive her new car everywhere and she would play Bridge two or three times a week. Gary said his mom works on her yard every day, she's in really good health, and her mind is still sharp. He said two of his mom's younger sisters call her "Wonder Woman."

Anne Platner and her late husband, Dee Platner, moved to Bartlesville around 1942. Platner has lived in Bartlesville for 78 years. She has attended First United Methodist Church, now known as First Church along Price Road in Bartlesville, for all those years.

Dee and Anne (pictured together above) grew up in southern Oklahoma. Anne grew up in Fox, Oklahoma, which is west of Ardmore. Dee grew up on a farm near Frederick, Oklahoma. The two met in Oklahoma City on a blind date. They would eventually get married in 1942.

The couple would move to Bartlesville after Dee graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Dee worked for Phillips 66 for 30-plus year. Anne had graduated from a beauty college while in OKC, but she never went on to practice.

Anne Platner and her husband raised four kids - three boys and a girl. Gary, who is now 76 and lives in the Dalls-Forth Worth area, said Bartlesville was one of the greatest towns to grow up in. He said the school system was great and they received the greatest education that they could get back then. Gary and his siblings used to walk to school every day because of how close they lived the the school house.

Gary said his mom and dad had no desire to move anywhere else when they retired. He said he was happy when his parents wanted to stay in Bartlesville because he knew how great of a community Bartlesville was and has been to them. He said he even thought about moving back to Bartlesville when he retired, and he's still contemplating that decision.

Dee Platner passed away in 2007 at the age of 89. Gary said he calls his mother ever night before going to bed to check in on her. He said they never run out of things to talk about when they're on the phone together. Normally Gary calls his mom at 9:00 o'clock each night, but one night this week Gary was watching a movie with his son that didn't end until 10 minutes after nine. His mom called him right away to check in on him since he hadn't called.

Gary wishes his mother a happy birthday. He says that she has been great to him.

All four of Platner's kids would agree that there mom was the best mom that they could ask to have in life. Gary said him and his siblings grew up in a tremendous family. He said he sees a lot of dysfunctional families, but he never saw their family that way. He said they had a stable childhood and a great family.

A drive-thru birthday celebration will be held at Anne Platner's home on Friday, Dec. 18th. Gary said they want to encourage people to write birthday cards and best wishes to her as well.

Platner has four kids, 12 grandkids, and over 20 great grandkids. She has no great great grandkids yet.
