Bartlesville High basketball played two close games, and unfortunately had two tough losses in the opening round of the Bishop Kelley Invitational on Thursday in Tulsa.

The Lady Bruins dropped to 0-3 with a 41-39 loss to 5A Shawnee in the first game of the day.

BHS had a three-pointer that would have won it go in-and-out just before the buzzer.

On the guy’s side, Bartlesville built two double-digit leads, but could not ever put the host-club Bishop Kelley away.

Bartlesville lost in the end, 67-62. It was the freshman David Castillo early on that helped the Bruins get ahead. He finished in transition for this bucket to put him in double-digits early in the second quarter.

Aadhi Ayyappan took the game over late in the second quarter, as Bartlesville retook a five-point lead just before the break. This fast-break bucket might have been the play of the game.

Bruins drop to 1-2 with the loss.

We will have both BHS clubs on 99.1 FM – KPGM on Friday for day two of the event.

The Lady Bruins face Edison on Friday morning at 10:00, the Bruin guys will take on McLain at 2:30 Friday afternoon.

You can hear both on BartlesvilleRadio.com and the Bartlesville Radio App, select KPGM.
