A resolution for donation from the Lyon Foundation to the Washington County Fire Department for the replacement of a new Wildland Engine was considered by the Washington County Commissioners on Monday.

Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox presented the item. Cox said firefighter Danny Wadsworth was largely responsible for the grant. He said they started on this journey two years ago.

Wadsworth took the lead on the Lyon Foundation grant application. Cox said Wadsworth was also responsible for getting a grant approved with the Parsons Foundation that helped them put a new fire truck in service in November. You can read that story here.

Immediately following his work on the grant from the Parsons Foundation, Wadsworth got right to work on the application for the grant through the Lyon Foundation. Cox said Wadsworth went through the application process and helped the Washington County Fire Department secure the $57,500 donation from the Lyon Foundation. He said that money will go towards replacing the Wildland Engine that the WCFD needs to replace right now.

The Washington County Commissioners approved the resolution.
