In lieu of their largest annual fundraiser, Samaritan Counseling will be hosting the Samaritan Sports Spectacular "Audible."

Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Monday, Executive Director Larry Cowan and Board Member and Samaritan Sports Spectacular Chair Kristin Curd announced the 14th annual event is canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. However, the giving campaign will continue online.

Chairperson Kristin Curd say the financial need is great and we are counting on their loyal donors to help them continue to make a difference in the lives of many and that your gifts make a real difference!

Donations will be accepted through October 1, 2020 at https://www.supportsamaritan.org/

Executive Director Larry Cowan tells us that Samaritan Counseling & Growth Center has seen an uptick in patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cowan says they have been able to treat patients via tele health so as to prevent the concern of possibly spreading the virus.

Samaritan Counseling & Growth Center was founded in 1974. It operated under the name of Pastoral Counseling Foundation. Prior to 1974, pastoral counseling in the Bartlesville/Dewey area was provided by individual pastors and priests within the confines of churches primarily for members of their congregations.

At present, the Center is sponsored by 11 Bartlesville churches of various denominations. The Center is reviewed and accredited by the Samaritan Institute on a four year cycle. The American Medical Association, The American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and The President’s Commission on Mental Health have endorsed the Samaritan Institute.

The mission of Samaritan Counseling & Growth Center is to provide affordable counseling services that integrate body, mind and spirit to persons seeking opportunities for growth and healing. Our purpose is to function as a natural extension of the Church’s pastoral ministry by promoting spiritual, emotional and relational health for individuals, couples, families and institutions in our area.
