Bartlesville All-State Chorus and Band Students Recognized

At its meeting on February 17, 2020, the Bartlesville Board of Education spotlighted students selected for all-state chorus and band. Tamara Walker was also recognized for earning the OkMEA Exemplary Teacher award.

Vocal Music Director Margie Green introduced fellow directors Tamara Walker, Alex Rivera, and Sarah Long while recognizing students selected for the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association (OkCDA) and Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA) all-state choirs. These are the highest individual awards a vocal music student can receive. Over 1,800 students auditioned for a choir of 200.

Eight students from Bartlesville High School and one from Central Middle School were selected by audition. Carlie Pool was selected for the OkMEA High School All-State Mixed Chorus, and Maggie Parrett was selected for the OkMEA High School All-State Treble Chorus. Natalie Hart, Owen King, William Pendergraft, and Isabella Cavaceci were selected for the OkCDA Junior High All-State Mixed Chorus. The students selected for the OkCDA Junior High All-State Treble Chorus were Joyce Yang, Samarah Robinson, and Jecelle Dobson.

Three Bartlesville High School students were selected by audition to be a part of the OkMEA All-State Symphonic Band. Band Director Alex Claussen introduced the students. Becca Waller was selected as 1st Alternate Piccolo. Max Williams was selected as 1st Alternate Percussion and this was his second year to be selected for all-state. Abbie Claussen was selected as 2nd Alternate Bassoon.
