A Bartlesville woman was arrested after trying to leave the scene of a police investigation. Penny Miller stood before a judge at the Washington County Courthouse on Monday facing charges of assault and battery on a police officer and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

According to an affidavit, a neighbor had called in a complaint of Miller causing a disturbance. The incident took place on the 1100 block of Maple Avenue. Officers made contact with Miller and she stated, “I’m going home.”

Officers warned her several times to not the leave the scene. Officers then tried to put Miller in handcuffs. Miller twisted away from the officer and then kicked him in the legs multiple times. Eventually Miller was detained after resisting.

On her person, officers found five white pills, later determined to be morphine. Bond for Miller was set a $1,500. Her next court date is set for May 24.
