Jessica Birk is a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Sisterhood in Bartlesville and says they strive to increase the opportunities for women to receive an education.

Birk says the PEO Sisterhood has opportunities for young women out of high school and older women to receive scholarships. She said she has earned three grants herself on her way to receiving her Masters degree.

A PEO Sisterhood Chapter member will sit down with you and they will walk you through the scholarship application process. Brik says they will then write a recommendation for you to go with you paperwork to the state wide or nation PEO Committee for the grants. She said you will have someone or a group of someones with you to help you understand which is why she believes PEO Sisterhood stands apart from other scholarship or grant opportunities.

Birk says the PEO Sisterhood was supportive before getting her Master's degree. She says they continue to support her in her endeavors today as a Student and Family Support Coordinator at Jane Philips Elementary School in Bartlesville.

Birk says they will accept scholarship applications or memberships anytime if you find an interest in being part of the PEO Sisterhood.
