The Board of Osage County Commissioners called a special meeting on Thursday morning to discuss assisting the city of Fairfax with emergency medical services.

For several years, Miller EMS has serviced the city of Fairfax and the surrounding area for $7,500 a month, but the company has had to raise that rate to $13,000 a month because of higher equipment costs and the hiring of extra personnel. Therefore, the city went to the commissioners looking for help. District Attorney Mike Fisher said the commissioners were well within their rights to do what they felt was in the county's best interest.

The commissioners decided to sign that agreement with the city of Fairfax and it will be in effect through the end of June. District one commissioner Randall Jones says he will continue gathering more information on the subject.

The next regular scheduled Board of Osage County Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Monday at 10 in the morning at the Osage County Courthouse in Pawhuska.
