Nearly every student wants a good score on the ACT, but what if you got the highest possible composite score?  Bartlesville Sophomore, 14 year-old Edwin Ding earned a composite 36 on the exam.

Only about one-tenth of 1% of all test takers earn the top score. In 2017, only 2,760 out of the over two million graduating high school seniors who took the ACT earned that score. To reach that level at age 14 is remarkable.

Ding says he tries to focus on his future and what he wants in life, but that doesn't mean studying 100 percent of the time.  Ding thanks his teachers, counselors, and principals for helping him academically throughout the years.

Edwin says he currently most enjoys his English and Principles of Engineering classes at the school. The latter is one of the newer STEM offerings made possible at BHS via a Phillips 66 Innovation Labs grant.

Ding’s name has been added to a plaque at Bartlesville High School that recognizes students in recent years who earned the highest possible scores on the ACT or SAT college readiness exams. Previous honorees include Emily Lin and Sarah Dover of the classes of 1998 and 1999, who each earned a perfect 1600 on the SAT, and Bailey Covell of the class of 2016, who earned a 36 on the ACT.
