An investigation of possible child abuse after a three-year-old child was sent to the emergency room led to the arrest of a Bartlesville man. Patrick Weekly stood before a judge at the Washington County Courthouse on Thursday facing multiple felony charges including child abuse, possession of a firearm and trafficking of amphetamines.

According to an affidavit, a child was taken to emergency room at Jane Phillips Medical Center with severe bruises and major facial swelling so much that the child’s eyes could not open. The child also had abrasions and contusions on his shoulders, back and buttocks. An ER doctor suspected the child had a skull fracture as well.

A witness stated he believed Weekly hit the child with a belt 15 or 16 times. Weekly claimed the child sustained the injuries falling off the toilet.

Upon searching the residence where the alleged abuse occurred a Bartlesville police officer recovered two stolen fire arms, methamphetamine weighing up to 42 grams and four grams of marijuana as well as paraphernalia.

Weekly next court date is set for October 27 with his bond set at $250,000.
