A big name in college athletics is coming to Bartlesville on Wednesday afternoon.

Commissioner of the Big 12 Conference Bob Bowlsby will be giving a luncheon talk at the Hillcrest Country Club. The trip to Bartlesville has been in the works for a while.

Chairman of the Bartlesville Sports Commission Bob Pomeroy worked on getting Bowlsby in town, and the Sports Commission is sponsoring the event. It starts at 11:30. Pomeroy talks about substance of the talk Bowlsby will give.

Bowlsby has had stops as the athletic director at Northern Iowa, Iowa and Stanford prior to taking the job as Big 12 Commissioner in 2012. As Pomeroy mentioned, the talk will touch on a wide variety of topics, including the state of Big 12 football and basketball. Basketball season is just about to begin with the media day concluding Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri - 

Of course football is about to hit the home stretch with both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State factoring into the title hunt.
