A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Bartlesville man earlier this week. Lonnie Hatfield appeared at the Washington County Courthouse on Tuesday facing a felony charge of false impersonation to create liability.

According to an affidavit, Hatfield was the passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for having very dim tag lights. The officer asked for Hatfield’s name to which he stated it as, “Demphis Chadwell”. This name did not register on the officer’s computer.

Shortly after that the father of the female driver arrived on the scene and was asked to identify the man in question and he said, “That’s my neighbor, Lonnie Hatfield.” The officer found a municipal warrant under Hatfield’s name and place him under arrest.

Hatfield’s bond was set at $20,000.
