An Oklahoma prison inmate has died and a prison spokesman says the death may be related to a fight.

The state Department of Corrections says 43-year-old John Vaughan III died at a hospital in Cleveland on Thursday where he was taken after a guard saw he had scrapes on his face.
Department spokesman Alex Gerszewski told The Oklahoman  that the guard noticed that Vaughan may have been in a fight and that the department's inspector general's office is reviewing security footage and interviewing other inmates.

Vaughan had been in prison since 2015 on Tulsa County convictions that include robbery, assault, drug possession and theft out of Tulsa County.
