Washington County Commissioners Meeting

Washington County Commissioners met Monday morning on the second floor of the County Office building.  One item of debate, the economic impact study of fairgrounds and proposed budget reduction, brought in several Washington County residents. The fairgrounds, north of Bartlesville, are costing Washington County thousands to maintain and keep open, but residents like Lester Gagan argue that the county would lose more money if the grounds are closed.

Gagan suggested that another approach be taken so that the fairgrounds remain open, such as marketing to bigger corporations in Bartlesville. To help save money, County Commissioner Mike Bouvier partnered a deal with Tulsa County to move printing costs for the Free Fair Booklet from $1,500 to $700.  The board approved of the booklet change, but more on the fate of the fairground will be heard this afternoon at special meeting at the county office.

The board also authorized a “Quick View” from Standley Systems to study and take analysis of printing and copying in county buildings. This study will hopefully reduce the county bills and help the county strategize how to keep those costs low for long term savings.
