Bartlesville Police Honor Their Fallen
The Bartlesville Police Department held their annual Police Officer's Memorial Day service at Police Headquarters this afternoon/ yesterday/ Wednesday/ May 18.
A crowd of nearly 100 people assembled in tribute of federal, state, tribal, and local officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Before the event took place, Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland explained how Police Officer's Memorial Day came to be.
Holland went on to describe the significance of the ceremony.
District Eleven Judge Curtis DeLapp gave a speech and read the poem "Our Knights In Blue" to honor the fallen.
Finally, Bartlesville's Honor Guard then announced the names of the 13 fallen Oklahoma officers and conducted a 21 Gun Salute while a Bugler performed "Taps." The ceremony came to a close with "Amazing Grace" on Bagpipe.
