Lady Bruins State Bound After BA Win

The Bartlesville High girls’ basketball team is headed back to the 6A State Tournament, as BHS held on to beat Broken Arrow for the third time this season and punch its ticket to State.
Bruins outlasted BA 54-48 to get it their first State tournament since 2018.
Bartlesville led by as many as 22 in the second half, but a late Broken Arrow rally made things interesting.
The Tigers would get within six in the final 15 seconds but ran out of time. The 19-4 Tiger run over the final five minutes didn’t matter.
Here is how the final call sounded on Saturday evening on KWON.
It was a monster third quarter from Bartlesville and its senior leader Sami Sheaffer that made the difference.
Bartlesville (17-10) outscored BA 21-6 in the third quarter to open up the game. Sheaffer scored 15 of Bartlesville’s points in the frame.
The barrage included multiple three-point plays, like this one to add to the lead.
Sheaffer finished with 27 points to lead all scorers.
The only thing more impressive than Sheaffer’s offense was the entire Lady Bruin backline defense. BHS would not allow a clean Tiger look most of the evening, holding the Tigers to only 24 points through three quarters.
Kenzie Denny added 11 and Ishem finished with nine. Emma Zimmerman had seven, all in the first half.
The win sends BHS to the 6A State Tournament, which will kick off on Wednesday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
