We have a handful of area teams in the semifinals of the Copan Shootout on Thursday.

Copan is again hosting an early-season basketball tournament. On the guy’s side, Copan, Wesleyan Christian School and Caney Valley are all into the winner’s bracket.

Let’s talk about Copan first. The Hornets are 2-0 following a first-round win over Prue, 60-44 on Monday night. That game was Copan’s second game of the year, as the Hornets started their season a full three weeks later than their usual schedule this past Friday night in a win over

Head coach Kolten Stacy says the extra time probably helped his team’s preparation. 

As far as the tournament goes this week, Stacy says there is still much to learn, even for an older group like his.

Copan will face Caney Valley at 8:30 Thursday night for a spot in the finals of the tournament.

Caney Valley improved to 2-2 with a first-round win over Dewey JV on Tuesday.
