Bartlesville High boys’ basketball started off its tournament in Cleveland at 0-1, as the Bruins couldn’t quite hold onto a lead against Metro Christian in the first-round yesterday afternoon.

Metro topped BHS, 49-47.

Bartlesville built an 11-point lead in the first quarter, but after scoring 17 points in the first eight minutes, BHS scored only 30 in the next 24 minutes of play.

BHS got down by four in the waning minutes before Brycen Gutierrez scored five quick ones to briefly give the Bruins the lead back.

However, Metro made the plays and free throws down the stretch to win by two.

Head coach Jake Christenson says it was a frustrating afternoon.

BHS will have a chance to get right back after it on , as Bartlesville will take on Sperry in the consolation bracket at 11:30 this morning. Sperry lost to Coweta on Thursday evening, 90-25.

We will have that Bruin game for you on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM. Some video coverage on KWONTV.com from Cleveland this morning. Pregame just after 11:00.
