Thursday's opening round of the Cleveland Invitational was game number one for both the Pawhuska Huskies and Lady Huskies.
The Lady Huskies came out on fire from the start and defeated Tulsa Central, 50-5. The boys will be short-handed until football season is over. Therefore, they fell to the host team in Cleveland, 66-52.
The Lady Huskies only allowed one basket on Thursday afternoon, that being a three-pointer that was banked in during the second quarter. Sophomore Brooklyn Miles led the way with 18 points for Pawhuska. Three of those points came on this bucket right here.
Emily Curry also finished in double-figures for Pawhuska, scoring 10 points. Pawhuska will play in the winners bracket game against Metro Christian at 1 p.m.
With football season still in full-swing, Pawhuska only suited up nine guys in the 14-point loss to Cleveland. The Huskies trailed 24-6 at the end of the first quarter, but hung tough with the Tigers after that, as the largest deficit they ever faced was 22.
Darien West led Pawhuska in scoring with 14 points. Jaden Spicer added in 12. Pawhuska will play in the losers bracket game against Pryor on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
We will have both of those games for you on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com. Bartlesville will get the triple header started at 11:30 a.m. when they take on Sperry.
