The Oologah Mustangs are gearing up for one of their most important games of the season as they head to Grove on Halloween night, looking to secure a playoff berth in District 4A-3.

Oologah (currently sitting in the final playoff spot) faces a strong Grove team that hasn’t lost since October 3 and sits one place ahead in district standings. Head Coach Sam Noble says his team is focused on staying grounded and taking care of business.

“Our goals are taking care of ourselves,” Noble said on Coaches Corner. “We’re not too worried about who we’re playing or what day it is. We’re going to prepare the same way every week.”

The Mustangs are coming off a narrow 31–29 home victory over Skiatook, a win celebrated on senior night. Noble credited his players’ toughness and commitment, even as injuries forced several position changes in the second half.

“I was incredibly happy with the grit and determination our kids played with,” Noble said. “We had some guys step into new roles, but they stuck to the game plan and found a way to finish.”

With two road games left at Grove on October 31 and at Wagoner the following week, Oologah needs at least one win to keep playoff hopes alive.

Kickoff against Grove is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Grove High School.
