Bartlesville Drops Close One at Sapulpa

Bartlesville High football again had some chances in its second District game at Sapulpa on Friday night, but the Chieftain running game proved to be too much.
Sapulpa outlasted BHS 41-21.
The final score doesn’t show how close the game was. Bartlesville twice rallied within a touchdown in the second half but couldn’t string together stops.
Sapulpa finished with 337 yards rushing on the night.
Bartlesville sputtered a bit on offense early but started to find a groove in the second half. Momentum started to swing to the Bruins following a huge hit and Chieftain fumble.
One play later Matthew Sears found Harrison Ketchum for a touchdown and it was a game again.
Both times BHS scored in the second half, Sapulpa answered right back to make it a two-score game. A late touchdown pushed the final margin to 20.
Michael Kent again was gritty. The sophomore scrambled for his second rushing touchdown of the season.
Daeton Stevens return was welcome to the Bruin offense. He finished with 122 yards of offense in total, unofficially
Bartlesville trailed 21-7 at half.
Bartlesville is 0-5 and next hosts Muskogee for homecoming next week.
