Speed Limit on Silver Lake Road Reduced to 45 mph South of Bartlesville

A reduced speed limit on Silver Lake Road south of the Bartlesville city limits has been established.
The Washington County Commissioners approved reducing the speed limit on the highly-traveled road to 45 mph all the way south to County Road 2400.
District 2 Commissioner Corey Shivel says with the additional housing developments on Silver Lake Road, he has received several complaints and concerns from residents in the area of vehicle traveling at excessive speed. He says it is a safety issue and it makes sense to reduce the speed limit.
Sheriff Scott Owen says his deputies have observed vehicles driving in excess of 65 mph on the two-lane road. The new speed limit of 45 mph will become official once the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety receives the resolution from the commissioners.
