Across high school football in Oklahoma, teams will finally be allowed to practice with pads on starting on Friday. Down in Ramona, the Caney Valley Trojans are ready to get deep in the grind with kickoff approaching.

There are a handful of schools that will be entering football season with a new head coach, and the same applies for the Trojans. Derrick Hammer, who was at Broken Bow last season, enters year number one in Ramona.

Hammer said his guys are ready to get the pads on.

Caney Valley opens things up against Barnsdall in a week zero matchup, with a scrimmage against Newkirk and Summit Christian on Aug. 22 to get his players ready for the start of the season.

Hammer talked about some things he's looking out for in next Friday's scrimmage.

Caney Valley opens things up for real on Aug. 29 for the opener against Barnsdall.
