Indians Split Day One of State Tournament

The Doenges Toyota Indians split day one of the Legion State Tournament in Ada on Thursday, with a win in game one over the Ada A's, 12-4, and a loss in game two to the Ada Braves, 4-3.
 
The Tribe trailed for the majority of game one. The A's struck for three runs in the top of the first inning, forcing the Indians to play catchup for the rest of the game. Lathe Griggs got the start, he recorded this strikeout to get out of the top of the first.
 
The Tribe trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth before scoring 11 runs to win the ballgame and advance to the next round. The Indians brought 15 batters to the plate. This double by Brenden Asher gave the Tribe their first lead of the game.
 
The win advanced the Indians into the winners bracket against the Ada Braves. In game two on Thursday, the Tribe got all three of their runs in the first inning. This single by Sam Marcella drove in two.
 
The lead for the Tribe gradually got smaller as the game went on before the Braves tied the game in the fourth, and took the lead in the sixth on a bunt. 
 
Offensively, the Tribe were led by Jaxon Zaun. He finished with five hits comined between the two games, with three hits in game one and two more hits in game two. He drove in three runs to complement the five hits.
 
The loss sends the Indians into the consolation bracket, where they will have to win three straight to win the state championship. The first elimination game starts at 10 a.m. on Friday.
