Jubilation in Bartlesville on Sunday night, as the Doenges Toyota Indians won the Glen Winget Memorial Tournament championship.
The Tribe took out the Bryant Blacksox in a thriller, 3-2.
Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, the momentum quickly shifted Bryant's way. The Blacksox loaded the bases with nobody out, before Grant Clark, Bryce Leulf and Sam Marcella turned a double play to keep the Indians in front.
Hits were more frequent early in the ballgame, the Tribe put up all three of their runs in the top of the first, and all with two outs. This two-RBI knock by Clark put the Indians up 3-0.
Sam Marcella got the start, he pitched six innings and allowed six hits. Siemers shut things down in the seventh.
In order to get to the finals, they had to get past Kickapoo first. The semifinal game against a familiar Kickapoo club was on Sunday afternoon.
The Tribe rolled, 7-2.
Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Tribe struck for four runs to essentially put that ballgame away. This two-RBI single by Siemers put the Tribe up five.
The Winget crown is the first for the Indians since 2018. Kael Siemers took home Winget Tournament MVP.
No days off for the Tribe, they start the DBAT Tournament on Monday afternoon at Rose State College in Midwest City.
The Indians will battle with Woody Meadows Bat Co. at 4 p.m. Coverage can be heard on Sports Talk - 99.1 FM, 1500 AM - KPGM, with video coverage on KWONTV.com.
