A peaceful protest titled “No Kings” is set for Saturday, June 14, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Bartlesville. Organized by the Washington County Democratic Party, Bartlesville Alliance, and national group Indivisible, the event coincides with a planned military parade for Donald Trump’s birthday in Washington, D.C.

According to their press release, the local event is part of a nationwide protest. The release states that No Kings rallies are meant to oppose what organizers call "the Trump administration’s attacks on civil rights, abuse of power, and cuts to essential services."

Organizers say that participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.mobilize.us to receive updates and help organizers finalize safety plans. They state that "weapons of any kind are prohibited, and all attendees are expected to follow principles of nonviolence."

The location of the rally will only be revealed to those who sign up online and give their name, email, cell phone number and zipcode.

Keegan Waters, co-organizer with Bartlesville Alliance, said, "The protest welcomes anyone committed to peaceful action and opposing authoritarianism."
