Spring sports will be over by the end of the weekend, but there are a few Bartlesville Bruins who still have an opportunity to get podium finishes on Saturday. The Class 6A state track and field meet, along with Class 6A state tennis started on Friday and will wrap up the two day event on Saturday.
At the 6A state track and field meet in Oklahoma City on Friday, Michael Murphy had a fifth place finish in the discus throw. Murphy had a best throw of 153 feet and two inches. In the two day event, the Bruin boys have tallied four points off the Murphy throw with chances to get more points on Saturday. The Lady Bruins will be looking to bring home some medals as well, as they will be competing in events.
In 6A state tennis, Bartlesville's Owen May lost his first match on Friday. He still has an opportunity to work his way back through the consolation bracket and win the fifth place title on Saturday.
Johnny Colmenero and Carson Covington won their first match before losing in the second round. With that, they can still work their way back to a third place finish.
