Union Beats Bartlesville in District Finale

Bartlesville High baseball dropped its District finale on the road on Thursday night, as the Bruin bats couldn’t get going against Union’s top starter.
The Redhawks beat BHS 4-1. Six Bruin errors combined with some timely Union hitting was enough to give the Redhawks a three-run win.
Barrett Merciez pitched extremely well. The Bruin junior went all six frames in his final regular season start. Of the four hits he allowed, only one left the infield.
Although BHS had its struggles defensively, two of Union’s four runs were unearned, Bartlesville did have some good plays with the leather. This double play in the sixth inning erased a leadoff Union base runner and kept the Bruins hanging around.
Two of Bartlesville’s four hits came from Kaden Romesburg, who also made a good play in left field.
The loss drops BHS to 18-15 on the year and finishes the Bruins at 7-7 in District play. Bartlesville is scheduled to have its regular season finale on Friday at Booker T. Washington at 5:00 PM.
