Bartlesville High baseball competed but dropped game one of a two-game District series with Bixby on Monday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Spartans beat the Bruins 8-0.

Again, it was ill-timed errors and a long drought on offense that gave Bixby the upper hand. A couple key Bruin defensive miscues led to three unearned Bixby runs. The Spartans tacked on three more with a bases clearing triple in the sixth inning to basically end it.

The Bruins had three base runners in the first two frames but stranded all three guys in scoring position then failed to get a base runner from the third inning on.

Despite all that, BHS kept it a game until the sixth. This great defensive play from Barrett Merciez kept a Bixby threat at bay in the fifth.

The loss drops BHS to 17-12 overall and 6-5 in District play.

Bartlesville gets another shot at the Spartans on the road at Bixby on Tuesday in another game on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1 with video coverage on KWONTV.com.
