Both Pawhuska Teams Win in Regional Action on Saturday

The Pawhuska Huskies will have their season continue following a game that they had to have on Saturday afternoon against Quapaw and the Lady Huskies will play for a regional championship following a victory against Fairland.
The boys scored the most points they had all year in a 76-33 win over Quapaw. Despite scoring the 76 points, the story of the game was the change in the Husky defense from the first quarter to the final three. Quapaw scored 18 first quarter points and the Wildcats were only able to score 15 points for the final three frames.
Leading by nine in the late stages of the second quarter, the Huskies extended the lead to double digits and never looked back.
The Lady Huskies won a low-scoring 44-36 game over the Fairland Lady Owls. That win puts Pawhuska in the regional championship game on Tuesday and automatically qualifies the Lady Huskies for an area tournament berth in Enid.
Pawhuska was in control from start to finish and despite the Lady Owls attempting to claw back from a 10 to 12 point deficit throughout, Pawhuska was always there for an answer. Here is a clutch bucket from Brooklyn Miles in the fourth quarter, as Fairland had narrowed the deficit to four, its closest margin in the final frame.
Hannah Reynolds and Miles both finished in double figures for Pawhuska.
The Lady Huskies take on an undefeated Okemah team at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. With a win, they will be a game away from going to the state tournament. The boys will play Nowata on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. They must win that game to keep their season alive. Both of those games will be played from Holly Ward Gymnasium in Ramona and can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and audio coverage will be available at KPGMTV.com.
