Nowata Falls to Okemah in Regional Clash

Nowata basketball fell to Okemah on Saturday, 70-55 in the opening round of regionals in Ramona, Oklahoma.
In a back-and-forth, high scoring first half, Nowata found answers to Okemah’s quick baskets. The Ironmen trailed by just three at halftime, 34-31.
Nowata trailed by seven early in the third quarter, but this sequence got them right back in it.
Nowata struggled to keep pace in the final few minutes with Okemah offensively. The Panthers pulled away with free throws and took precious seconds off the clock.
The Ironmen with the loss drop into the consolation bracket of regionals to take on Pawhuska on Monday. This is an elimination game. Tip-off will be at 2:30 p.m. from Holly Ward Gymnasium in Ramona. Coverage of the game can be heard on Sports Talk – 99.1 FM KPGM.
