Some high school basketball teams in the area had their playoff schedule pushed back this weekend because of the winter weather. All Class 2A, A and B Regionals will begin tomorrow, instead of today.

This means Pawhuska, Barnsdall, Caney Valley Ramona, Wesleyan Christian School, Copan, Oklahoma Union and Nowata will all play exactly 24 hours later than originally scheduled. Game times and locations are staying the same.

The Copan boys  will play in a non-elimination game on Friday evening against Deer Creek-Lamont. This will be a tough matchup for Copan, as Deer Creek-Lamont is a top 10 team in the state and enters with only three losses statewide.

This is Copan’s first time in Regional winner’s bracket since 2019. Hornets beat up on South Coffeyville and Bluejacket to win their Regional last weekend. Copan has scored the basketball well over the past two weeks. Hornets are averaging 68.3 points-per-game over their last four.

Head coach Kolton Stacy says his guys have been pushing the pace.

Copan and Deer Creek-Lamont in Class B Area 1 Regional winner’s bracket on Friday evening at 7:30 from Medford High School.
