Most high school basketball teams outside of 5A and 6A will be in postseason play this weekend. The only ones not playing were eliminated this past weekend.

One of the teams across the area that should have a real chance to advance – the South Coffeyville girls.

The Lady Lions enter the Class B Regional round undefeated in the playoffs. South Coffeyville beat Bluejacket by 39 then Welch by 40 during District action in South Coffeyville this past Friday and Saturday.

The Lions are 22-1 overall. They will certainly draw comparisons to the South Coffeyville girls’ team of 2022-23, which entered the playoffs undefeated and ended the year at 25-2. They fell in the Area consolation bracket.

Head coach Jeremy Rogers talks about those comparisons.

The only loss for South Town this season was a one-point defeat to Miami, a 4A team, in overtime. This was at the NEO Tournament in January.

An injury to South Coffeyville’s point guard, Lydia Phillips, may end up being a blessing to the Lions down the stretch.

Rogers talks about the two guards that are leading his club into the Class B Regionals.

South Coffeyville scheduled to face Medford on Thursday night at 6:00 in a winner’s bracket Regional game in Medford. Medford girls are 22-3 overall and a top 10 ranked team in Class B

We have the brackets for all local 2A, A and B clubs in Regionals this weekend HERE.
