In a much anticipated rubber match, Nowata and Oklahoma Union meet again in Nowata on Friday.
The first two games between these two teams showed very competitive and close results. Nowata took the first game on the road, 57-54, on Jan. 17, with OKU returning the favor on Jan. 25 in the fifth place game of the Ketchum Tournament, 48-45.
Nowata will enter the contest with a record of 12-8 after a road loss to Dewey on Tuesday. Head coach Derick Ott knows his guys will have really good energy in a crucial rivalry game.
Oklahoma Union enters the contest with a record of 11-11 and have won their last two games by double digits. They took out the Caney Valley Trojans on Tuesday, 40-26. Head coach Riley Duncan says that his team’s defense is what makes the Cougars dangerous.
The Nowata girls will look for the season series sweep on Friday in Nowata. The Lady Ironmen have beaten OKU twice this season.
The girls game will tip-off first at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow around 7:30 p.m. Coverage of the boys game will be on KRIG 104.9 and streaming on KRIGTV.com.
