Pawhuska Athletes Sign to Continue Their Athletic Careers
Ty Loftis
Wednesday was an exciting day for three Pawhuska athletes who signed to further their athletic career at the next level. Football players Chase Eaves and Jaydin Shaw signed on the dotted line to play at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, while softball player Josie Lookout will continue her career at Haskell Indians Nation University in Lawrence, Ks.
After a season ending playoff loss, Shaw was unsure if he wanted to continue playing the game, but said after taking some time and a tour of campus, NEO felt right.
Eaves will be going to play with Shaw in Miami. Eaves credits his teammates for taking him in for his lone season at Pawhuska and putting Eaves in the position he is today.
Their coach, Matt Hennesy said both players will be hard to replace. Shaw was a three-year starter for Pawhuska and Eaves was a two-way player in his one year at Pawhuska. Hennesy went on to say he thinks NEO will be a good fit for both players.
Lookout will be playing centerfield for Haskell Indians Nation University. Her coach, Stephanie Jensen, says she will miss the hard work and toughness that she brings to the table. Lookout will miss being around her teammates, but is also looking forward to forging her own path.
The Pawhuska Class of 2029 also signed their letter of intent to play high school football on Wednesday. Part of that is having each senior look over a freshman on a "big brother" system. Hennesy details why that is so important.
All Pawhuska football games can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and streaming on KPGMTV.com.
