Edmond North Wins at Bruin Field House
Bartlesville High basketball had its final games before a mid-season tournament this weekend last night at Bruin Field House. Both teams played well in the first half but struggled in the second against a good Edmond North program.
On the girl’s side first, Edmond North ended up with a 61-42 victory. The final score is deceiving, as it was a contest as late as the middle of the fourth quarter.
Bartlesville led by seven at halftime only to see its lead evaporate quickly in the third quarter. BHS only scored two free throws in the third. The poor scoring down the stretch will overshadow a much-improved performance for the Lady Bruins vs. their first loss to the Huskies in Edmond.
Sami Shaeffer scored 11 points to lead the way. Kenzie Denny had seven, all in the first half, including this one to give BHS its halftime lead.
Meanwhile on the guy’s side, the Bruins played better defense in the first half but still struggled to score. Edmond North topped Bartlesville, 63-25.
It was a two or three possession game most of the first two quarters. This Dennis Duncan and-one got BHS within striking distance just before the break.
Jordan Turner led BHS with eight points. After holding Edmond North to 25 points in the first half, the Huskies scored 38 in the second. Bartlesville only made one three-pointer; a season low.
Lady Bruins drop to 7-5 the Bruin guys are 2-11.
Both clubs will be in tournament play this weekend, girls head to Frontenac, Kansas while the guys will be in Moore.
We will have the Bruin guy's game at 2:30 radio only on Sports Talk 99.1 FM - KPGM.
