Weather has thrown off some local basketball tournament play, as the schedule was affected on Thursday and will likely be somewhat altered on Friday.

The 21st edition of the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational still got five games in on Day 1. Both Tulsa Central teams and the Putnam City boys did not make it to Bruin Field House on Thursday, so three games were called off.

That meant Lady Bruin game on Thursday, but the BHS boys did get to play against Ponca City.

The Bruins notched win No. 2 in a thriller against the Wildcats, 36-35. Bartlesville made two plays in the final 15 seconds to grab the one-point win, both coming from junior Hudson Eads.

Down two with the ball, Hunter Holmes found Eads in the corner for the eventual game-winning three-pointer.

On the ensuing Ponca City possession, the Wildcats turned it over after a good play from Eads guarding Ponca’s leading scorer just before the buzzer.

The win snaps an eight-game losing skid for the Bruins, who now own two wins over Ponca City this season. BHS was able to pull it out after only scoring 11 points in the first half, including just three in the second quarter.

Bruin head coach Tommy DeSalme says he is happy for his guys.

The Bruin guy's game is unfortunately called off for Friday, as Millwood decided not to travel.
