Bartlesville Hoops 1.5 Weeks Away

We are only a week and a half away from Bartlesville High basketball.

The Bruins and Lady Bruins kick off their seasons a week from Friday at home against Ponca City. The Nov. 22 start is quite a bit earlier than the past several years, where the season did not start until December.

The game against the Wildcats will provide a particular test for the Bruin boys. BHS is breaking in a new crop of players and a new head coach. Tommy DeSalme has been hard at work with the Bruins since early October.

There will be several freshmen who get regular time in the lineup this winter, but DeSalme says in a way everyone is like a freshman early this year.

Bartlesville had a couple of scrimmages last week, including one against Dewey. Reports from the event were positive.

BHS has another at Tulsa Central on Thursday.

DeSalme says right now he just wants the Bruins to play hard.

More from DeSalme and other area basketball teams as those seasons kick off over the next month.
