Patriot Athlete of the Week: Kelsey Ward
It is another Monday, which means we get to feature an area Athlete of the Week thanks to the Patriot Family of Autos.
This week it is Bartlesville High volleyball standout Kelsey Ward.
Ward is a senior for BHS and wrapped up an illustrious high school career a couple of weeks ago. As KWON reported at the time, Ward surpassed 1,000 career kills during her senior campaign. That is a major milestone for any volleyball career.
Kelsey’s mom, Jennifer Ward, also wrapped up her head coaching career at BHS after this past season. That puts a cap on four years of the Wards helping Bartlesville High volleyball, making the Bruin volleyball program a family affair.
Kelsey and Jennifer have both seen major positive change to Bartlesville volleyball during their tenure at BHS. Bartlesville was more than 10 games under .500 the year before Kelsey got into high school.
Jennifer Ward says her daughter was a joy to coach.
Although she could have had the opportunity, Ward says she is not going to continue her volleyball career into college. She wants to focus on her studies when she wraps up her time at Bartlesville High in May.

Congrats to Kelsey Ward, our Patriot Family of Autos Athlete of the Week. Bartlesville High volleyball fell to Broken Arrow to end its season with 23 wins just a couple of weeks ago.
