Both Oologah Mustang squads opened their home tournament in convincing fashion, as the boys and girls each picked up dominant wins over Salina on opening night. The Oologah boys set the tone early and never looked back, rolling to a 90–41 victory behind relentless defense and efficient scoring. Head coach Caleb Branscum credited his team’s energy and effort, saying the Mustangs “really hooked up and played hard,” adding that strong defense translated into easy offense throughout the contest.

Looking ahead, Branscum knows the challenge ramps up quickly with Dewey on deck. After watching Dewey play the night before, he emphasized the Bulldogs’ discipline and execution. “As they have been for many years, they’re very well coached,” Branscum said. “They attack on offense and get the looks that they want. They’re a very good 10–1 team and we are excited for the challenge.” The matchup is shaping up to be a key early test for the Mustangs in tournament play.

On the girls’ side, the Oologah Lady Mustangs also delivered a strong performance, defeating Salina 50–26. Head coach Clif Warford praised the balanced effort and defensive intensity, noting his team forced 29 turnovers in the win. “It was a good, balanced win, and I’m very proud of our defense,” Warford said. Like the boys, the Lady Mustangs now turn their attention to Dewey, with Warford expecting a tough, competitive matchup. “Dewey is a well-coached team and are very scrappy. It should be a good game.”
