OKWU Splits Doubleheader at Friends

It was an entertaining night in Wichita, as Oklahoma Wesleyan split with the Friends Falcons on Wednesday night.
The Lady Eagles dropped their second conference game, 65-59, the Eagles came back to win the men's game, 83-77.
On the women's side, the Lady Eagles played catch-up from the start. They scored just seven points in the first quarter, but only trailed by four at halftime, 28-24. This transition bucket from Khamille Warr off a nice feed from Khassidy Warr tied the game in the second quarter.
The Lady Eagles trimmed a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter down to four in the final four minutes, but that's as close as they would get. Free throws down the stretch put the game away for Friends.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles drop to 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
On the men's side, the Eagles also had to play a little bit of catch-up. Outside shooting for the Falcons told the story in the first half. Friends made nine three-pointers to take a 45-37 lead into halftime. The lead grew as large as 13 points about four minutes into the second half before OKWU mounted a comeback.
In a tie game in the final eight minutes of regulation, Malachi Okunbor knocked down two big three-pointers to spark a 6-0 OKWU run.
OKWU outscored Friends in the second half, 46-32.
The win keeps the Eagles unbeaten in conference play. They are 2-0 in the KCAC and 5-1 overall. The win also marks the 500th career win for head coach Donnie Bostwick.
Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball returns on Saturday for their first home KCAC battle against Kansas Wesleyan. The Lady Eagles will get the afternoon started at 3:30 p.m. with the men to follow around 5:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
