OKWU recaps successful athletic year

As we look to welcome athletes back on campus in the upcoming weeks, OKWU Athletics is happy to take a look back on another successful year in NAIA Sports. 
 

The 2023-2024 Athletic Year was one to remember for the OKWU Eagles Athletic Department, taking home at least one Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in each athletic season.
 

2023 Fall

Men's Soccer
Ending the year 17-2-5, the Eagles put together another impressive year on the field. Taking home the KCAC Regular Season and KCAC Tournament Championships once again, the Eagles earned an automatic bid to the National Tournament for the chance at a National Championship run. Ending their season in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Tournament Final Four, the Eagles ended the year with a strong finish and fight till the very end.

Women's Soccer
Having another stellar season on the field, the Lady Eagles concluded their season with an overall record of 16-3-3. With a 10-0-2 conference record, the Lady Eagles took home both KCAC Championships for the 6th consecutive season. Defeating ranked opponents all season long, the Lady Eagles bowed out of the 2023 season at the NAIA National Tournament Opening Rounds in Tennessee.

Volleyball
2023 was a historic year for the Lady Eagles on the court, making their way to the final site of the NAIA National Tournament for the first year in program history. With a 28-6 record overall, the Lady Eagles took home the KCAC Regular Season and KCAC Tournament Championship for the first time in program history as well.

Cross Country
The Lady Eagles finished their season with 1 athlete representing OKWU Athletics at NAIA Nationals, Natalia Quiroz. Quiroz is a standout athlete for the Lady Eagles Cross Country team and competes in long distance races for OKWU Track & Field as well.

2023-2024 Winter

Men's Basketball
Ending their year with a trip to Kansas City, Missouri for the NAIA National Tournament Final Site, the Eagles closed out their year with an impressive 31-3 record. Taking home both KCAC Championships, the Eagles were well rounded on both sides of the court and finished off regular season play 20-2.

Women's Basketball
Ending off the year with a comeback win streak, and a chance at a spot in the conference tournament, the Lady Eagles ended their year 10-18. Taking home a few big conference wins, the Lady Eagles return key players to this next upcoming roster and season.

Wrestling
Men's Wrestling started off the season with national notice, being placed in the receiving votes category on the NAIA National Polls. Ending on a high note, the Eagles sent one individual to NAIA Wrestling Nationals in Park City, Kansas.

2024 Spring

Baseball
Ending their season with an NAIA Opening Rounds Appearance, the Eagles had an excellent season on the field and in the KCAC. Ending regular season play with a 26-10 record, the Eagles went on to win the KCAC Tournament Championships, securing a bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Rounds.

With a trip back to the KCAC Tournament in Great Bend, Kansas, the Lady Eagles bowed out of the 2024 season with a final record of 33-18. Starting off season with a Top 3 win over USAO, the Lady Eagles sailed through regular season with great success and good standings in the KCAC.

Ending the year with an 8-12-1 record, the Eagles had a year of induvial success under Head Coach Julia Mongin.
