OKWU Hoops Wins KCAC Tournament

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday night.
The Eagles won a thriller over the Friends Falcons, 79-78.
In a back-and-forth game all night, neither side led by double digits. Friends went on a 10-0 run early in the contest to take a seven point lead before OKWU stormed back. This three-pointer from Yashi McKenzie put the Eagles back in front.
Amari Woods for OKWU hit a buzzer-beating lauyp to tie the game at 38 at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Eagles took off running. A 9-0 start to the final frame gave them their largest lead of the night. This three-pointer from Angel Hidalgos kept the lead at nine.
Friends did not go away in the second half. The Falcons completely erased the deficit in the final two minutes and took the lead with less than a minute left. A big three-point play from Ethan Williams gave OKWU the lead back with 24 seconds left.
Tamaje Izuagbe led the way in scoring once again for the Eagles. He finished with 34 points on 12-16 shooting. He finished 6-8 from three-point range.
It's the second time in three years that the Eagles have won the KCAC tournament.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will be one of 16 hosting sites for the opening rounds of the NAIA national tournament. The Eagles will know who they are paired with during the selection show on March 5 at 6 p.m. The first round starts on March 13.
