OKWU Hoops Travels to Evangel

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball rounds out their two-game road trip on Wednesday night in Springfield, Mo. for Evangel University.
 
Both Eagle clubs are coming off wins after a sweep in York, Neb. on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles picked up a much needed conference win on Saturday, 71-59. The men rolled, 86-45.
 
On the women's side, the Lady Eagles are looking to build off of Saturday's offensive consistency. Four players finished in double figures, with Kamryn Phoenix and Khamille Warr leading the way with 16 points each.
 
Head coach Heidi Messer talked about the team learning from recent games and picking up Saturday's win.
 
The Lady Eagles are 6-12 overall and 2-10 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Evangel is 15-1 and 12-0 in the KCAC. The Valor have won 14 straight games.
 
On the men's side, the Eagles are on a six-game winning streak following their most dominant performance in a conference game this season. The Eagles are 16-2 and 11-1 in the KCAC. They lead Bethel College by one game for the top spot in the conference standings.
 
Against York on Saturday, the Eagles were down by four just past the midpoint of the first half, 17-13. They closed out the first half on a 27-3 run to lead by 20 at halftime. OKWU outscored York in the second half, 46-25, to win by 41.
 
Head coach Donnie Bostwick talked about what changed from the first 10 minutes to the next 30.
 
On the other side, Evangel sits at 12-6 overall and 8-4 in the KCAC.
 
The Lady Eagles will get the evening started in Springfield at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow around 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1, and on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
