OKU Wins Thriller Over Nowata

Oklahoma Union won a thriller in overtime at home over the Nowata Ironmen, 62-57.
 
OKU controlled the pace early, they opened up the contest on a 7-0 run. The Cougars stretched the lead as large as nine in the first quarter before Nowata staged a 9-0 run to tie the game early in the second quarter.
 
This three-pointer from Kason Summers gave Nowata their first lead.
 
Nowata led by only one at the half, 25-24, and by four points at the end of the third, 38-34.
 
In the fourth, the Ironmen stretched their lead as large as nine points early in the fourth, and by five with just under four minutes to play. The Cougars closed out the final three-and-a-half minutes on an 11-6 run to force overtime.
 
OKU controlled the four minute overtime period. This steal by Jimmy Williams leading to this Aiden Talbott layup won it for the Cougars.
 
The win moves Oklahoma Union to 4-15 overall. Nowata falls to 10-9.
 
On the girls side, the Lady Ironmen won an entertaining game, 52-44.
 
Nowata will return home on Friday for the Caney Valley Trojans. OKU will host Quapaw on Friday night.
