Copan Gets in With Win - HS Foootball
Four more days until the final regular season week of high school football in Northeast Oklahoma.
Copan is a local club that is hoping Friday won’t be the Hornet’s last game in 2023.
Following a 66-16 loss to Coyle last week, Copan needs to win this Friday against Oaks to assure itself a playoff spot in Class C District 3. The Hornets would still have a good shot to get in with a loss depending on how some other games in the District go this weekend.
It was a worst-case scenario for Copan this past Friday. The Hornets lost their starting quarterback and running back to injury early on. A previously healthy offensive line also got banged up late in the week in practice and early in the game.
Head coach Marshall Foreman talks about the loss against Coyle.
Despite the rough loss, Foreman says he thinks many of the guys who were injured last week are in a position to play this Friday. Copan is a favorite on paper. Oaks stands at 3-6 overall, 2-4 in the District.
A victory would mean Copan’s first playoff berth since 2009.
An achievement in his fourth season that Foreman says would mean a lot to many people.
A 7:00 kick in Copan on Friday night.
The Hornets would also want help from Wilson, who plays Watts on Friday night.
A Hornet loss to Oaks and a Wilson win over the Engineers would likely mean Copan would get in on points in a three-way tie.
