Bullpups Bite, Lions Limp Home
If you were looking for drama in Caney, KS on Tuesday night, you came to the wrong gym.
The Lady Bullpups took care of business at home, rolling past Leon Bluestem 56–36. Credit where it’s due to the Lady Lions, who showed up shorthanded with just five players available, one sidelined by an ACL injury and another fighting illness. Caney Valley did what good teams do against a thin roster, pushing the pace and pulling away. Molleigh Kaminska led the charge with 17 points, while Elyn Washburn added 12 in a game that was pretty much decided well before the final horn.
The night didn’t get any easier for the Lions in the boys game. The Bullpups came out hot, stayed hot, and never bothered to look back, blasting the Lions 70–26. James Kistler led all scorers with 18 points, Layne Denny followed with 13, and the rest of the Bullpups joined in just to be polite. Total domination, start to finish.
Both Caney Valley squads hit the road Friday to take on Humboldt. You can hear all the action on US 98, with coverage getting underway at 5:45. Bring snacks. It might be another long night for somebody.
