Bartlesville Hoops Sweep Rejoice Christian
Thursday was the season opener for Bartlesville High basketball, and both BHS teams took home a win over Rejoice Christian to get to 1-0 to begin the year.
The Lady Bruins played a back-and-forth affair with Rejoice and won it 72-68.
Both teams started scoring at will in the second half. BHS poured in 24 points in the fourth quarter to grab the win.
Senior Kenzie Denny was the star. She threw in three three-pointers, including this one to help pull away down the stretch.
Four Lady Bruins were in double-figures, as Sami Shaeffer, Emma Zimmerman and Cadence Gray joined Denny.
On the Bruin guy’s side, it was Bartlesville’s first 20-plus-point victory in three years, as BHS beat Rejoice, 51-25.
Stifling defense and good fourth quarter shooting led the way. The Bruin guys also scored 24 in the fourth, with about half of those coming off Eagle turnovers, including this three from Hunter Holmes.
Bartlesville led by six at halftime and eight entering the fourth.
Both Bartlesville clubs are now off until Dec. 2.
