Indians Win Season Opener

The Doenges Toyota Indians have started off their season at 1-0 after an extra-innings win to begin the season.
The Tribe beat the Kansas Curve 7-4 in extra innings in Valley Center, Kansas on Saturday afternoon to kick off 2026.
Bartlesville’s boys of summer scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to grab the win. The Indians had a steady dose of college guys in a nearly all-college game against the Curve.
Despite surrendering a one-run advantage entering the bottom of the seventh, Bartlesville preserved the tie and won it in extras.
After scoring two runs earlier in the frame on RBI base hits from former Bruin Jaxon Zaun and Oklahoma Wesleyan product Grant Goldman - It was a Dewey Bulldogger Nate Sloan to helped drive in two more.
Bartlesville’s pitching and the performance from Zaun were highlights. The Indians surrendered only three hits pitching-wise. Zane Griggs, Sterling Kroh, Kamen Sprague, Lincoln Gott and Coen Miller combined to strike out nine.
Miller, a Coffeyville Community College guy, got the win and struck out four.
Zaun was tremendous from the leadoff spot. The former Bruin went 3-5 with four runs and an RBI.
It was a scheduled double-header, but after lightening in the area in the second inning of game two the two-teams decided to call it off and the Indians headed home at 1-0.
Bartlesville will be back into action on Tuesday to begin Collegiate D-Bat League play in Claremore.
