Nowata basketball standout Talon Thompson has signed to Oklahoma Wesleyan University to continue his basketball career.

Thompson made it official by signing to OKWU on Friday morning.

Thompson talks about his experience at Nowata and what drew him to OKWU.

Out of just two seniors on the basketball team this past season, Thompson will be the only one continuing his basketball career. Senior Brett Malone signed to Coffeyville Community College (CCC) to continue his golf career next season.

Head Nowata coach Derick Ott talks about Thompson's development.

Thompson led Nowata his junior year to a Northeast Valley Conference championship in the same season he was named offensive player of the year for the conference. This season, Thompson was named a Northeast Oklahoma All-Star.

Thompson is also the second athlete within the immediate listening area to sign to OKWU this week. Dewey's Kooper Crawford officially became an Eagle on Wednesday. Head OKWU coach Donnie Bostwick talks about the talent in the area.

Thompson is the third Ironman in the last two weeks to sign to officially continue their playing career into college. After Malone's signing in late April, Nowata golf star Jackson Hurd signed to CCC on Wednesday to join Malone on the golf team.
